1884 Loup River Freighters Hotel

This house was built in 1884 by Jerome Lalone to provide freight wagon drivers a place to stay over night when taking supplies from Kearney to Broken Bow.
Mr. Lalone lost the house and all his property in a sheriff’s sale in 1893.  Another Buffalo County homesteader, Felix Eckhout and his wife, Flavia, purchased it in 1898.  The property is still owned by the Eckhouts, and four generations of the family have lived in the house. It was donated to T&R in January of 1983.
